About
I am a researcher and lecturer at the University of Seville, where I belong to the SCORE unit of excellence and the I3US institute. I am also a member of the Applied Software Engineering group (ISA).
I studied Computer Science at the University of Extremadura (2008), then completed an M.Sc. (2010) and an international Ph.D. (2012, cum laude) at Seville on resource-aware business processes. From 2013 to 2019 I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Information Business of WU Vienna, where I led the FWF Elise Richter project PRAIS and received my Habilitation (2020). I returned to Seville in 2019 and became Associate Professor in 2023.
Research
Business process compliance
Checking that processes follow regulations and internal rules, from design time to run time, with mashup-based and low-code approaches and predictive monitoring.
Resource-aware process management
Who does what in a process: languages and notations for resource assignment, allocation with answer set programming, and mining team compositions.
Process mining and visualisation
Discovering, comparing and explaining process variants, and exploring collections of process models and of work done in collaborative board tools.
Hybrid intelligence for decision support
Combining people, bots and data to support decisions in digital services and public administration, including smart contracts.
